It will be awesome to meet some of the people you may serve alongside each host week.  We have lots of new folks who have joined our team in the past year and I would love to get our team together before we serve at the end of April. This will also be an opportunity to share new information with you. Please make plans to attend.

My Father’s House (formerly Family Promise) is a program that helps families stay together while they are without a home which prevents them from being split up at shelters or living in their car.

Crossroads will be a host church for one week at a time, Sunday evening through the following Sunday morning. Guests will each have their own room in the NexGen building. They will arrive at 6:00 pm each night, eat dinner, clean up and have time to play with their children and fellowship with volunteers. Guests are picked up each morning at 6:30 am.

Set up
Set up includes moving the beds and the guests’ suitcases upstairs. We will also put out towels, sheets, etc. for the guests. If we get enough help, this usually takes about an hour or so.

Meal Host and Fellowship 6:00-8:00 pm

Be ready to serve dinner at 6:15. You should allow the guests to serve themselves and eat with them. Clean up responsibilities will be assigned to the guests as the program requires. There will be lounge areas set up in the NexGen building with games and a TV to fellowship with the guests and play with their children.

Evening Host 6:00-8:00 pm

This person would be available to make sure the Dinner Host arrives and answer any questions they may have. They will also be available to answer questions the guests may have during the time the dinner host leaves and the overnight host arrives.

Overnight Host  8:00 pm – 6:30 am

Rooms will be available for Overnight Hosts. Ideally two people should stay each night. You should arrive by 8:30 and you may fellowship with the families. Guests should retire to their rooms by 10:00 pm. Make sure the guests are up in the morning and ready to leave at the designated time.

Tear down/Laundry
Tear down includes stripping the beds, moving all the beds downstairs to be sent to the next church, and then dividing up the sheets, towels, and comforters to be washed. Usually, there are 2-3 of us that take the laundry to our homes to wash, then return them in a week or so to the My Father’s House closet.

Volunteers are needed to help provide meals, fellowship and stay overnight at the church during the host week.

To volunteer during Crossroads’ host week, contact missions@xroadschurch.us for more details.
