Weekday PreschoolWelcome to STARS Preschool, Seeking Together And Reaching Success! Our program exists for you and your child. The ministry provides a learning environment that will help preschoolers grow as Jesus grew. "And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature, and in favor with God." (Luke 2:52)
The philosophy of the preschool is that scripture is the authority, and Jesus is the model. Our program provides a balance of opportunities for the development of the whole child from a biblical perspective: mental, physical, spiritual, emotional, and social. To guide and encourage the development of the whole child, age-appropriate activities will be our objective, not the teaching of individual skills. Academic skills such as reading, writing, and math will be by products of age-appropriate activities.
Curriculum Our core curriculum is based on Foundations, the WEE Curriculum, the Bible and Read, Play, Learn. Foundations is a result of a North Carolina study that provides basic developmental principles for early childhood education. Attention is given to basic care routines, play and exploration, and guided learning. Lifeway produces the WEE curriculum, Weekday Early Education. Along with the Bible, this curriculum focuses on the spiritual development of children. By using this biblically based curriculum we will encourage children to know themselves as children. Read, Play, Learn is a play-based curriculum that addresses areas of communication and language, social and emerging literacy skills. A variety of popular storybooks are the basis of this curriculum. In addition, the TK Class will be using curriculum to promote academic skills. Every Day Math in Pre-K and language arts lessons from Scholastic will be two of the main resources.
